Speaker layout gets drawn to the ceiling plan, not to where the sofa happens to sit. In-ceiling, in-wall, or plastered over entirely — the only evidence is that the room sounds better than it looks like it should.
Music follows you between rooms at a level that matches each one. The kitchen gets more mid-bass than the hallway; the primary bath doesn't need to be as loud as the patio door. Twelve zones, sixteen — the count matters less than the precision of each. Each zone gets a volume ceiling and a startup level, so one room can't spoil another and nothing ever comes on at yesterday's volume.
Two speakers on the back wall aimed at the yard is why outdoor audio has a bad reputation. A coverage plan does the opposite: small satellites tucked into the beds, spaced to overlap, with a buried subwoofer carrying everything below 80Hz.
The result is even level at conversation height across the whole terrace — no hot seat next to a speaker, no dead corner by the fire pit — and aiming that keeps the sound inside your property line instead of on the neighbor's deck. Direct-burial wire, gel-filled connections, and fixtures that survive an Oklahoma freeze-thaw cycle. It can be its own zone, or wake up with the interior when the doors open.
Distributed audio is built to disappear. This is the opposite: one room, two speakers, one chair, and no compromise made for anybody else's convenience. A record you've had since college, a glass of something worth the pour, and forty minutes where nothing else needs your attention. If you have a pair of speakers you've been saving for a house that deserved them, this is where they go.
Placement is measured, not eyeballed — an equilateral triangle to the seat, toe-in set by ear at the chair, first-reflection points treated so the room stops competing with the recording. High-current amplification sized to the speakers rather than the room's square footage. Bit-perfect digital from a Roon core, Qobuz and Tidal at full resolution, a proper phono stage when there's a turntable. We'll spec around gear you already own and love, and we'll tell you plainly when a room's proportions are fighting you before you spend a dollar on it.
Inside and outside are separate scopes, priced and delivered separately. Neither one requires the other.
One library sits behind all of it, so what's on in the kitchen can be joined by the patio without anyone hunting for the right app. Start it from a keypad at the door, a phrase to a voice assistant, a tap in the app, or a schedule — the morning zones can come up on their own and the whole system can shut off at midnight without being asked. Nothing depends on the app being open, and nothing depends on you owning the rest of the system.
